I missed my 10 minute target by taking the time to read 2 articles about Virtual Academies as well as including some things I learned from a conversation with the WAVA through the Steilacom School District in WA.
They expect to enroll 2500 WA students this 2007-08 school year-only the 2nd year of their efforts.
Time on this cast is c. 20 minutes.
Does your team of teachers and staff have and show an attitude of "Customer Service"? What plans and strategies are you considering to enhance that very important "school atmosphere". I think your style and personality creates that atmosphere. Our students need to see that "Biblical World View" lived out.
Is your school a place where peoples lives are changed and they are having fun? That isn't bad -is it?
Technologically, I was challenged and could not combine my comments with my Skype interview of Bob. SO-I just had to get this out to you. #21 provides my introductory remarks and #22 clicks in to our phone conversation.
Send me comments or give me a call 360.910-2773
Work on Bruce Colburn's encouragement "Communicate with parents and students regularly, directly and kindly."
Enhancing effective communication between students-teachers-parents-administrators and community has always been a major challenge for educators.
Some are using technology more and more effectively to accomplish this goal. RenWeb software provides a tool to this end.
Please listen to #22 for the interview with Bob Wilbers, President of RenWeb School Management Software.
An administrator moves on after giving 5 years but muses a bit. Also "The Donkey in the Well"-Learn from the donkey.
I had 2 questions for Bruce. One was: You are saying goodbye to a friend who is going off to a new administrative position-what advice do you give in the minute before he must take off?
Second question is: how do you make your final choice between to equally qualified candidates for a faculty or staff position in your school?
Virtual academies-sensitivity to diversity, ETC.
Short and simple with a couple things to think about.
After 4 months I bring a thought or 2 on Virtual Academies. What do you know to help me with that?
Should the Christian Schools get geared up to accommodate parents who choose to use Virtual resources?
I'm doing 10 minutes this time and will try to keep as such.
A few thoughts for Google Alert value. I've learned a whole lot from this resource.
Try Google Groups too-look for Christian School Administrators and join the forum.
Bits and pieces of info from conferences and connections with Christian School educators in Oct. and Nov.
I'm off to CA and will see many, many fine educators next week. I hope they will give me some insights to pass on.
Check back next weekend.
Listen to this-I am pretending to be the administrator I used to be at Salem Private Schools. I am convinced giving a 5 minute podcast daily will enhance any Christian School. Let your parents get to know you-let them see the burdens and blessings-you and your school live with.
I believe they will appreciate the job you do a whole lot more
Roger and Ken bring more than 50 years of Christian School experience. So much valuable info-listen up!
